Halloween

This year for Halloween, Kailen wanted to be Little Red Riding Hood--don't know where that idea came from, but her Nana made her a cape and we had her in a white dress with a basket--and there ya go! Rylee decided to wear a poodle skirt I got at a consignment sale for $1--love that kind of costume. She didn't really understand what she was dressed up in--all she knew is she had on a long skirt that twirled out wide. They were so cute. Both of them got to wear their costumes at school. It is nice when you have Halloween on a Friday or Saturday because you get to stay out late and not have to worry about school in the morning. As a teacher it is nice, too--you don't have to deal with kids cranked up on candy. The girls put on their costumes again that evening to go out and get more loot. Our first stop was at Kailen's teacher's house.

Next, we went over to Emalee and Ronnie's house. They put together these huge bags of goodies for the girls.

The Hoxies met us at Ronnie and Emalee's and we took off from there on foot to hit their neighborhood. There were many trick-or-treaters and the kids had a great time getting candy. The girls probably would have enjoyed staying at Ronnie and Emalee's and handing out candy--they were fascinated with all the costumes.

We wrapped it up around 9:00--the kids were cooked and ready to go home and go to bed after a day full of fun...and we were off the streets by the time the weirdos were out! It is a good thing this day only comes once a year. We have enough sweets to last us for a long time!
