Saturday Hike

A couple of weekends ago, we took advantage of the remaining days of warm weather and went on a hike. This is one of our favorite hikes because you actually get to the top of the trail and look out over a beautiful canyon. On the way up the trail, you can look down over the town and see the valley. It offers some awesome views. So, this first picture is at our first rest stop bench about a fourth of the way up. The kids were excited to take a rest.

This next picture is at the same bench, but we had the kids turn around to get their picture with the beatiful view of the valley.

We continued on and made it to some interesting rocks. Here is Kailen "taking it all in". She really enjoys being outdoors.

The kids found a great rock to climb up. Here is a video of Kailen--aka "Future Rock Climber" crawling up the rock.

They all made it to the top--even the Rylee with a little help. Kailen is showing her triumph over the rock!

We finally made it to the top and the girls got a reward--trail mix. Here they are reloading for the hike down. They really love stopping for a snack break!

The girls climbed up to the highest point. Mom was having a few moments of panic. Behind these rocks is a pretty steep drop-off. The kind that makes your legs get a little jello-y. But, our adventurous girls wanted to explore. We had them sit on the flat rock and not move a muscle while we took this picture.

Finally, we were able to get a family picture with the amazing beauty that God has created for us to enjoy.

We are so fortunate to live in such a gorgeous place. A day doesn't go by that I don't look out at the moutains and marvel in their beauty.

As I am writing this blog, it has been about 3 weeks since we took this hike. Today it snowed! It is incredible how the weather can change. We were having a nice "Indian Summer" and all of a sudden we are having winter weather--crazy!
