First Camping/Fishing Weekend of Summer

We decided to purchase a used pop-up camper for this summer because we wanted the girls to grow up with fond family memories of our camping escapades. Our first trip was not far--only about 15 miles from our house up the mountain. We chose a rustic camping area with no amenities. It was kind of a damp day--rain on and off. We got up to the camp area late because we had to wait until Steve got through with work. Set up was easy and we got dinner and were in bed by 10:00. Steve made a roaring fire (his favorite thing), so mosquitoes were not a problem!



The next morning we woke up and had pancakes and hot chocolate.











We got dressed and headed to a nearby pond that was stocked with fish by the Kiawanis club just for the kiddos. The girls had so much fun fishing.




They each caught a fish. I think they had more fun with the worms, though!


















Our friend, Parker, caught a whopper! He was so proud.






Even the bald eagles were interested in what was going on--I am sure all those fish looked really yummy to them and they were just going to wait patiently for everyone to leave!






In all, our first camping trip was a success--even if it was only for one night. We are looking forward to a summer of many more camping trips!
