Texas Road Trip-1st Stop Logan, Utah

So, the girls and I, along with our friend Krista, loaded up the minivan to take a road trip to Texas. Krista (Kailen's future first grade teacher) came along for the ride and we dropped her off in Oklahoma. Her best friend growing up had triplets and she was going to help her. So, we had fun road tripping together.


Our first stop was going to be in Logan, Utah to spend the night with our friends, the Schadeggs. We know them from bible camp. It was about a 7 hour drive. Here are the girls and I in the big town of Leadore, Idaho. This is where we stopped for lunch. As you can see--it was still a little chilly outside, but we were trying to soak in as much as we could because soon enough we would be complaining about how hot it was!

So, Krista and I share a passion for Sonic which we were determined to instill in the girls as well by the end of the trip! The girls started out the trip calling it "Sputnik" We were on the lookout for our first Sonic in Utah. The first one we found was actually in Logan AND it was one where the car hops were on roller skates! For the girls it was love at first sight.


The Schadeggs have 6 kids--5 boys and 1 girl. They are such neat kids and we have a great time hanging out with them. Near their house are the irrigation canals. We were lucky enough to see some duck families with their babies. The kids had a great time feeding them.

After feeding the ducks, the kids had fun getting wet in the running water--they were soaked by the time we finished our stroll, but they had a ton of fun.

We had a great time with the Schadegg's--and Logan, Utah is a beautiful place. Jill gave us some great advice on travelling with kids --I guess when you have 6 kids, you learn a few tricks along the way. She told us to put some stickers on the dash board that would represent how many hours/miles we would be on the road that day--you take one off every hour/100 miles and give it to the kids. Then, when the kids ask "Are we there yet?" or "When will we be there?" you just tell them to look at the stickers. It worked like a charm! The next morning Jill sent us on our way with full bellies and a goody bag. Our next stop--Denver!
