Texas Road Trip--Return Home

Going home is never as fun as travelling to get somewhere. We were pretty much ready to be home and trying to get there as fast as we could. We picked Krista back up in Oklahoma--it was hard for her to leave those 3 babies that she got use to taking care of--many tears were shed.

We did stop and stay in a hotel one night on the return trip because I didn't really think the girls could make the drive from Oklahoma to Denver again without some tears and frustration. We stopped in Kansas and stayed at a place that had the largest Van Gogh replica painting of his sunflowers. Here is a picture of Krista taking a picture of the large painting--just think what we would've missed if we kept driving!




The girls always have fun in a hotel room. They were pretty wired from being in the car all day and were literally bouncing off the walls and from bed to bed. Here is a picture of Krista sitting on a luggage rack to work on the computer.


The next night we stopped in Casper, Wyoming to stay with Krista's family for the night. Her dad grew up there and her parents were visiting relatives for a few days. Her dad took us up to this short hike to a waterfall and we had a picnic dinner. It was a nice change of pace after being in the car all day. On the drive up, we saw antelope all over the place--even in town. At one point we saw a mama antelope with two babies. We tried to get pictures, but it didn't work out.

Nice little waterfall--it is beginning to feel like we are closer to home--notice we had to pull out our jackets! The cooler weather was a welcome change.

So, we left Krista with her parents in Casper and headed out the next morning. Our next stop was Billings to stay the night with some friends there. We probably could make it all the way home in one day, but it would be a looooong day. From Billings, we headed home. We had a great road trip and made some great memories and got to see a lot of special people. I don't know that we will make it an annual thing, but the girls really did a great job travelling and Krista provided some comic relief. She was a lot of fun. Steve was grateful to have us all home again and the girls were grateful to be home and see their daddy. Road trips are fun, but coming home is the best part. We thanked God for giving us safe travel.
